Decarbonising the Southampton Water Industrial Cluster project presentation, 14 October

Alastair will be sharing details of the SGN and Green Investment Group’s Southampton Water Feasibility Study, carried out by WSP, has explored the decarbonisation of the Southampton Water Industrial Cluster using hydrogen and CCUS technologies. This project ultimately aims to stimulate a hydrogen economy in the Southern LDZ, in line with SGN's decarbonisation roadmap

Speaker profile

Following completion of his Masters of Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Alastair joined SGN as an Energy Futures Graduate in 2018. Now an Energy Futures Project Officer, he has worked on a variety of projects, including the ground breaking Real-Time Networks project, which developed the first-real time gas network model and more recently, the Southampton Water Project, which has developed the initial vision for a net zero industrial cluster in the Solent and a hydrogen economy in the surrounding area.

Alastair was heavily involved in the development of SGN’s RIIO-GD2 business plan and continues to input to the development of SGN’s wider decarbonisation strategy. He hopes to continue to develop and progress as the gas industry transitions to net zero, aiming to achieve chartered status in the coming years.
