Hydrogen’s role in decarbonising transport

David Jones is the Sustainable Transport Manager at Cadent Gas, with responsibility for developing the company’s low-carbon transport infrastructure strategy, an important part of the company’s broader energy transition strategy.
David is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, specialising in climate change strategy, carbon management, and sustainable gas technologies including alternative fuelled vehicles. David has held senior positions in Shell, BG Group, Centrica and British Gas.
More recently, David has created a portfolio of innovative projects which consider, amongst other important topics, transition pathways from biomethane today to a hydrogen future, optimisation of future network delivery of hydrogen for transport in the North West and investigation of the impact of network purity on future hydrogen fuel cell transport applications.
