Ensuring no consumer is left behind in RIIO-2
James is one of the impressive line-up of speakers at the Energy Networks Innovation Conference and networking event.
He is part of a panel discussing how to bring customers with us in the next regulatory period, RIIO-2? Topics include:
- Avoiding long-term negative impacts on consumers during the energy transition
- Regional fairness: sharing the impact of investment in decarbonisation of the energy system
- Making low carbon infrastructure accessible to disabled consumers
- Collaborating with charities and interest groups to improve inclusivity
James is responsible for developing and implementing policy for the next round of price controls for the electricity distribution networks.
Prior to this James led the review of the overarching RIIO framework for all energy network operators in Great Britain. This included the development of arrangements to promote innovation, competition and the solutions that address system-wide issues. James was also responsible for designing the approach to incentives to promote efficiency while keeping bills down for consumers.
James was extensively involved in Ofgem’s work in the first round of ‘RIIO’ price controls for both gas and electricity distribution networks. James led the policy development of measures to improve the service provided to customers, in particular those seeking a new connection.
