Open Networks session, 15 October
Britain’s energy landscape is changing, and new smart technologies are changing the way we interact with the energy system. Our Open Networks project is transforming the way our energy networks operate. Julian will join the other leaders of the project to discuss how it is working with broader energy transition policies and priorities.
Julian is a chartered engineer with nearly 30 years’ experience of transmission system operation, planning and investment. Julian’s current accountabilities are to ensure that as the nation transitions to a low carbon future that the electricity network enables the transition and that the ESO defines the needs of the network to enable the market and the network owners to invest in the right technology solutions at the right time. This includes being responsible for the current and future connections to the transmission system and ensuring that access to connect to and maintain the transmission system is granted in a way that minimises costs to consumers and maintains security of supply.
