Panel: How can we ensure we don’t leave behind the non-digital native consumers? 13 October
Steven will be joining a panel of experts discussing how to bring consumers with us as we digitalise the networks, exploring:
- Why do digital skills matter in the future of energy: what's the risk for people who are digitally excluded or don't have the skills to engage?
- Are current consumer protections robust enough to handle the scale and pace of change when it comes to the digitalisation of energy?
- What are the key points in the customer journey that industry and companies should be thinking about tackling?
- What can we learn from other markets and countries?
Steven has over 10 years’ experience across two leading DNOs and a diverse number of roles. These roles encompassed system planning, where he designed 33kV generator connections, maintained the impedance model with associated data exchange with third party organisations, and helping calculate DUoS charges. After this Steve moved to the Innovation Team managing a variety of business as usual initiatives, NIA projects and NIC bids ranging from ANM deployment, several reactive power based projects, a bid focusing on hydrogen electrolysis deployment and a range of community energy projects and initiatives.
After a decade with Western Power Distribution, Steven moved to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks to fulfil the role of the DSO Technical Authority, taking responsibility for the technical elements of the DSO transition, particularly having oversight of ICT and OT infrastructure along with engineering considerations of the network. This experience meant he led the team that prepared the Digital, IT and OT elements of SSEN’s ED2 Business Plan. He is also heavily involved in industry wide initiatives such as Open Networks and Digital and Data Steering Group.
